In the latest campaign for Skittles Fizzl’d Fruits, Skittles leaves behind the whimsy and mysticism of former campaigns and “Taste the Rainbow” becomes “Fizz the Rainbow.” Enter Tubesock. He’s quirky, he’s eye-catching, he’s perhaps my Halloween costume this year if I can find a sock large enough.

If you haven’t seen the ad, check out the link below. Basically, an elderly man is exploiting a giant tube sock making him scoot across carpet to gather static electricity to zap his tongue. Hence, the feeling Skittles Fizzl’d Fruits makes in your mouth. It’s random, hilarious, and effective. I received a text message about how funny the commercial was before I’d even seen it. (Thanks again for the heads up, Nicole!) There are several other “episodes” posted on youtube.com and, unfortunately for Tubesock, it does seem “a tubesock’s work is never done.”

In a long line of memorable advertising from Skittles, Tubesock doesn’t disappoint. A must see if you’re looking for a little laugh in your day.

Who knew there were so many jokes to be made about static electricity?

I just recently came across the commercial for Castrol GTX, “Think with your Dipstick”.  Always a fan of a commercial that makes me giggle, this one actually had me laughing out loud.  I hear that its been out since Superbowl and don’t know how I managed to miss it after all this time.  The word “dipstick” alone brings a smile to my face; adding a Scottish man hitting people with one is comedic genius in my book.  And who is Jimmy?!?  ALL of his victims are Jimmy?!?  Love it.

To those out there who can’t take a joke (and I know there are a few by doing some googling), I encourage you to think with your dipstick; as you never know when a Scottish man will pop out of the bushes and try to beat your sense of humor into submission.

Thank you, Ogilvy & Mather, for coming out with an ad that makes those all too long commercial breaks seem shorter…for those of us without a TiVo.  Hooray for dip – er – slapstick humor!
